So you’re 401(k) is worth 40 percent less than it was a year ago. How about a trip to Las Vegas as a panacea?

It turns out a Vegas vacation is one of the best deals out there right now, with airlines and hotels cutting their rates dramatically. One example is the Rio, home of the B/OSS Conference & Expo in April.

Airlines are drawing fewer passengers, so they’re extending sales for a month or two beyond their norm. And hotels in Sin City cost, on average, about 30 percent less than they did one year ago.

Nearly 38 million people visited Vegas last year, but that was down almost 5 percent from 2007.
