Mobile World Congress: Tellabs 8000 Network Manager Predicts Network Storms

02/16/2009

With release 17 of the Tellabs 8000 Network Manager at Mobile World Congress Monday, Tellabs Inc. is promising service providers the ability to predict and prevent network storms.

The Tellabs 8000 network manager's VPN provisioning tool provides a higher level transparency for pseudowires and tunnels through a new graphical layer view. In addition, automated wizards, procedures and templates can be tailored to individual needs and make provisioning faster and easier, the company said in a press statement.

The new release also includes mass service configuration tools, improving workflow and usability features.

Another new feature is a performance trend analysis tool. The tool monitors network traffic and use, and calculates traffic trends.

Release 17 also improves service-level testing and fault-monitoring capabilities to reduce the risk of errors and improve smooth service performance.

The Tellabs 8000 manager release 17 extends manageability to the optical layer and DSL in addition to existing IP MPLS, Ethernet, ATM, FR, TDM, PDH and SDH services. Release 17 now supports the Tellabs 7100 Optical Transport System in addition to the 8800 Multiservice Router Series, 8600 Managed Edge System, 8100 Managed Access System and 6300 Managed Transport System. The Tellabs 8000 manager also supports multivendor network environments both in mobile and fixed infrastructures.

Tellabs 8000 Network Manager Release 17 is generally available.
