Tim McElligottWhat do Quantum Computer Services, Terry Gene Bollea and Henry McCarty all have in common? Nobody ever heard of them until they changed their names to America Online, Hulk Hogan and Billy the Kid.

So names can be important. However, some famous people would have become famous eventually without changing their names; their deeds were enough. Would Goyathlay have played any lesser of a role in American history had his name not become Geronimo? Would Sophia Augusta Frederika of Anhalt-Zerbst not become Catherine the Great had her comrades called her Sophie?

Ask Shakespeare, “What’s in a name?" and he’d tell you it smells the same no matter what you call it. But we thought Billing & OSS World Conference & Expo was quite a mouthful. We are happy to inform you that we have simplified our brand and named it for what it is: a live event where people gather to form real relationships, do real business and shake real hands. The Billing & OSS World Conference & Expo is now B/OSS Live!

We’re not only making the name easier to say and remember, we’re making the event better and more meaningful for attendees and vendor partners. B/OSS Live! is a place where the telecom software sector can get real about everything from education and networking to product demos and problem solving. It is a place where all that non-committal virtual communication occurring throughout the year gets put to the test and people can meet face-to-face.

As a conference and businessplex, B/OSS Live! creates the environment for service providers and solutions providers to learn and to teach together and to set the foundation for doing business. And they do the kind of business that helps the telecom industry as a whole do its business of connecting humanity and its machines.

So watch this page in every issue for updates and developments around the content of B/OSS Live!
