Smart Grid Requires Some Telecom Smarts

Telcordia will be attending the Next Generation Utilities summit for North America this week. It’s always exciting to be in a room where adjacent markets collide. I will be particularly interested to work through the critical challenge for energy companies to become dramatically more efficient in their ability to operate their communications infrastructure.

For smart grids or other next-generation offers to become successful, theses networks have to be as reliable, scalable, available, secure, and as well managed as any telecom network. Utilities are working hard to achieve operational efficiencies and accelerate deployment in a complex environment characterize by emerging technology and evolving standards. Sound familiar?
