Petros Mouchtaris has played a key role in the growth of Telcordia Technology’s Applied Research organization over the past 10 years. He led Telcordia's entry into the area of security for wireless ad hoc networks and grew that into a multi-million dollar business. He was the principal investigator for projects funded by two of the research organization’s biggest customers, DARPA and CERDEC, and contributed to many other technical efforts. Mouchtaris co-wrote the first book on the topic, “Security for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks,” with Farooq Anjum. The book covers cryptography, secure routing and intrusion detection and prevention and has been translated into Chinese. Mouchtaris has made many similar contributions in the areas of voice-over-IP, wireless networks, cyber security and more recently in security for the smart grid. He has contributed to the dissemination of this critical information to organizations such as the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), which is one of the world’s leading centers for research and education in areas of information security.
