GTE OFFERS WEB-BASED BILLING APPLICATION

GTE has announced that it will provide long distance carriers with secure access to their billing and service accounts via the Web. The GTE Access Customer Gateway (ACG) system allows long distance carriers to view carrier access billing and payment information and track service records on-line. The system uses a CyberTrust digital certificate to verify the identity of carriers as they enter the site in order to provide proper access to information. Digital certificates are issued by a third party, the Certification Authority. GTE plans to extend ACG services to include access to connecting facility assignments and secure electronic data interchange (EDI).
