MCI EXPANDS LOCAL MARKET IN CALIFORNIA

MCI opened its own local networks to business and residential customers in Los Angeles and San Diego. MCI also plans to offer service in San Francisco by the end of the first quarter this year. The carrier now offers local service via its own fiber optic network and digital switching facilities in 16 major markets in the United States. For business customers, MCI will offer a single bill for local, long distance and international calls, toll free services, Internet access and wireless services.
