OMNIPOINT EXPANDS SERVICE IN EUROPE

Omnipoint Communications has made five more international markets available to its wireless customers. The carrier announced roaming PCS service in the Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, France and Portugal. Though Omnipoint's European partners operate in different frequencies, customers can roam via SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card technology. The SIM card carries a subscriber's service information and can be inserted into a GSM handset designed for use overseas.
