LOCKHEED MARTIN TO PROVIDE LNP TO NCAC

Lockheed Martin IMS announced a five-year contract with the Northeast Carrier Acquisition Company (NCAC) to provide local number portability (LNP) services to telephone companies in six states. Under the contract, Lockheed Martin IMS will develop a regional telephone number database which will provide LNP to the Northeast. The database will store phone numbers for all customers in N.Y., Mass., Maine, Vt., N.H. and R.I. NCAC is a joint venture of telecom companies organized to administer the implementation of LNP in the Northeast region in accordance with the schedules established by the FCC and the N.Y. State PUC. NCAC's members are: Bell Atlantic North, Time Warner, AT&T Communications, MCI, Sprint Communications, Teleport Commun-ications Group, GTE Corp. and Frontier Corp.
