Portal Software Inc. debuted Infranet 6.0. The upgrade features real-time, transactional customer management and billing functionality across business operations. Version 6.0 is designed to allow next-generation Internet businesses to tailor CSR interfaces for branded services, alter cross-service price plans, trigger cross-selling promotions and provide real-time billing. The new system also features a new rating engine that rates all events transactionally, in real time, to help determine the cost of each event to influence the cost of other events occurring at the same time. This functionality is intended to allow providers to implement business models including real-time prepaid accounts, cross-service volume discounts and credit/debit of non-monetary resources.
The system has new modules to detect bad data and fraud, and a Java component-based module for Web self-care. The branded service feature supports hosted customer management and billing services within a single Infranet implementation. It works a permission architecture designed to ensure brand security for customer data, pricing plans, etc., and provides secure, real-time developer access. Infranet 6.0 is open architecture-based and includes documented APIs for customizing standard features and integrating with other applications such as customer care, call centers and general ledger accounting systems. These APIs include XML-based interfaces for pricing and invoice data, network device or mediation system to support other types of services. The system runs on Sun Solaris, Hewlett-Packard Unix and Windows NT platforms.
