CheckFree will become the EBPP provider for the U.S. Postal Service's Internet portal. Postal Service customers that use the portal can view and pay electronic bills from AT&T, MCI Worldcom, Sprint, GTE, BellSouth, Qwest and other regional telecommunications, utility, cable and wireless providers, company officials said. The service also includes the Postal Service Electronic Postmark (EPM), which lets customers attach an electronic date and time stamp to billing data to prevent tampering.

By using CheckFree's Genesis 2000 electronic billing and payment engine, customers can buy Postal Service products and services through debiting their bank accounts. Businesses will be able to send payments via the Internet for PC Postage and meter resetting, as well as pay for postage at multiple locations. CheckFree will also bolster the Postal Service's person-to-person payment offering, which lets customers send money to other customers electronically. The payments would enable consumers to transact virtually anything online--including buying auction items, online classifieds, sending money to children in college, or attaching "cash" to electronic birthday greetings.

YourAccounts.Com, the e-commerce division of Output Technology Solutions, will provide integrated print and electronic outsourced billing communications for the Postal Services' large commercial customers.

In other news, AccuDocs LLC, has teamed with CheckFree to deliver EBPP services for small and mid-sized billers. Under the agreement, AccuDocs will bring its biller customers online to leverage CheckFree's thick or thin distribution models. Electronic bills will be delivered to more than 110 CheckFree consumer service providers, including the banks, brokerages, credit unions, portals and personal financial management software packages.
