META Group released its 2001 Worldwide IT Trends & Benchmarks Report, which compiles information from companies in 30 industry groups worldwide. The research breaks down IT spending: 58 percent is spent on new development, 28 percent on data center/operations and 14 percent on maintenance. Other results show that New Hampshire has the highest percentage of households with Internet access and Mississippi has the lowest; and the top five countries predicted to have the highest e-commerce potential are the United States, Finland, Iceland, Canada and the Netherlands.
