A recent Frost & Sullivan report, “OSS Insight: The Future of OSS,” finds that service providers expect OSSs to be able to support wireless networks and the migration to IP-based networks. “As these next-generation networks begin to be widely deployed, there will be a growing requirement for the OSS to handle coexisting conventional and next-generation networks within a single carrier,” says Jim Alsman, a Frost & Sullivan OSS program leader. The report forecasts that many wireline and next-generation landline vendors will enter the wireless OSS arena.
