The Yankee Group estimates 50 million wireless phone users, or 26 percent of all users, will be purchasing premium content and authorizing payment from wireless devices by 2006. According to the report, “Mobile Payments: What Are They Worth?,” consumers are expected to spend approximately $15 billion on mobile commerce transactions. The Yankee Group predicts carriers may be able to boost monthly revenues by between $.20 and $3.00 per subscriber depending on the carrier's share of revenues among all parties involved in a transaction.
