Frost & Sullivan reports in “World OSS Service Assurance Market Analysis” that the service assurance market in 2000 reached $2.4 billion and predicts an estimated annual growth rate of five percent from 2001 to 2006. Frost & Sullivan recognizes that in a marketplace with fewer than 30 competitors, the top six companies have more than 50 percent of the market share. These companies include Lucent Technologies, Spirent, Inet Technologies, and ADC with Agilent Technologies and Alcatel as the overall leaders with $300 million and $250 million respectively. The report names the primary market drivers as changing network technologies, operating cost savings and the migration to off-the-shelf solutions and the fact that all of the players face the challenges of the economic downturn, scalability issues, and the integration of multiple vendor products to create a complete system.
