Telespree Communications said it has received a new patent covering automated provisioning and activation of a wireless device.
The patent protects the key technology behind Telespree's platform – which automates activation including device programming, service enrollment, ongoing account maintenance, rate plan changes and promotions for wireless networks. Telespree has five patents covering its core technology dating back to 1999.
The patent covers an automated solution that ties service entitlement and provisioning to the device identity at point of initial activation. The invention provides wireless devices with immediate limited or unlimited access to the wireless network. It eliminates the need for retail agents, call center agents and interactive voice response (IVR) systems to provide basic device provisioning and activation services. Telespree's technology also supports applications where network resources are used only on demand.
The technology described in the patent has been successfully deployed commercially in Europe and North America.
