Home and mobile markets are getting a boost thanks to a new partnership between Spectrum Five and Transverse.

Spectrum Five has chosen Transverse, a pioneer of open source business solutions, to support its launch of Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) services nationwide. This includes direct-to-home television, rear-seat video and backhaul to cell tower services. Transverse will deploy its blee(p) OSS solution to power Spectrum Five’s retail and wholesale operations.

The foundation of these new services is Spectrum Five’s FCC authorization to operate 500 MHz of spectrum in the true "Ku" DBS-band from a new orbital position over the center of the U.S. This is the first true full CONUS DBS slot authorized by the U.S. in more than ten years. Spectrum Five's first satellite will provide a national broadcast beam and will concentrate additional bandwidth to more than half of the population by placing spot beams on the top 20 U.S. cities.

“Consumers are demanding greater high-definition broadcast content both in and outside of the home,” said David Wilson, CEO of Spectrum Five. ”The Transverse team was selected because of their expertise in back office solutions, as well as the flexibility of blee(p), their open source platform. We believe they are the right partner to maximize the capabilities of our network.”

“Spectrum Five is launching not only the most advanced DBS network in the world, but also a new marketplace with better value relationships between users, brands, merchants and the media companies trying to reach them. We appreciate being selected as their back office partner and look forward to working with them to transform their subscribers into mobile audiences,” said Jim Messer, CEO of Transverse.
