Verizon LiveSource has received an award from The Pelorus Group for excellence in providing location-based directory information services.

The award cites the company's integration of operator-assisted directory assistance calls with a navigation-based application. It permits wireless 411 callers to immediately receive ─ on their handset ─ turn-by-turn directions to the location of the listing they requested.

Verizon LiveSource serves nearly half the U.S. wireless market with 411 local, national and enhanced directory assistance 24-hours-a-day, including such features as language preference, SMS delivery of the requested listing, and last-number reconnect for those who need to call back 411.

"This award recognizes our effort to provide an unequaled customer call experience," said Kitty C. Linder, Verizon LiveSource and public communications president. "Innovation is at the heart of our success, and our wholesale wireless customers expect us to continually add features that allow them to offer technologically advanced search services to their callers."
