A little more than 400 TV broadcasters shut off their analog signals Tuesday night and switched to digital, even though the official DTV transition date has been moved to June 12.
The FCC said it fielded more than 28,000 calls on Wednesday; many people needed help setting up converter boxes.
The Nielson Co. said yesterday that 5.5 million households still can’t get digital signals. Many are waiting to receive coupons to buy the necessary conversion equipment; the federal government this week allotted $640 million in funding for additional coupons.
