The NGN IMS Forum released the results of its sixth plugfest, which tested roaming wireline and wireless applications and billing across a temporary, multi-operator IMS network set up across the United States, France, Israel and China.

It was the first time the Forum tested interoperability and functionality across a network that spanned two operators.

Plugfest 6, the largest plugfest to date, was held Jan. 12-16, to test various IMS endpoints as well as advanced charging, billing and policy servers, user roaming and distributed authentication. It also tested VoIP and video-over-IP and performed a demonstration of picocell access.

The forum is planning two additional plugfests for 2009.
