Open Cloud Manifesto Arrives without Microsoft

As cloud computing becomes more popular and more vendors roll out offers, the need for interoperability across those environments has become a conversation topic. Enter the Open Cloud Manifesto, spearheaded by IBM and aimed at progressing that conversation.

The document has been signed by Sun Microsystems, VMware, Cisco Systems Inc., EMC, Red Hat, Novell, and Juniper Networks.

Missing, however, are core cloud providers like Google Inc., Amazon.com and Salesforce.com. Also missing is Microsoft Corp., which last week said it felt the Manifesto is the product of a closed process that doesn’t take input from the industry, insinuating it to be a power grab on the part of the companies to take control of the cloud computing conversation.
