Sun Microsystems confirms it will lay off 1,500 more employees this week. Just last fall, the company announced it might let up to 6,000 people go in stages. This appears to be part of that plan.
In January, Sun cut 1,300 jobs as part of the move that will pare down its workforce by 15 to 18 percent. Much of the slashing comes in customer support, which includes professional service employees and direct sales.
