Europe’s third largest cable-based media and communications services provider, Cologne, Germany-based Unitymedia, selected DigitalRoute's MediationZone for the implementation of a turnkey mediation system with relevant revenue assurance tools from Cartesian.

Cartesian is a technical consulting and IT services company out of the U.K. and owned by TMNG Global. Its suite of software tools known as Ascertain address the revenue assurance, data integrity and provisioning needs of telecoms operators. In this implementation, its revenue assurance tool provides Unitymedia with a continuous audit trail, that when combined with DigitalRoute’s MediationZone, provide a certainty of data, system and process integrity.

MediationZone is replacing a legacy mediation system and will form a horizontal data integration layer across all of Unitymedia’s network technologies and services. The company has more than 110 MediationZone deployments across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North America, South America, Asia and Oceania.

At the end of 2008, Unitymedia had approximately 4.6 million basic cable subscribers, 568,000 Digital TV Pay revenue generating units (RGUs), 630,000 Internet RGUs and 363,000 Telephony RGUs.
