IBM this week announced it’s creating a new consulting group that’s dedicated to the advanced business analytics and optimization market. It will draw on the company’s experience in vertical industries, research, mathematics and information management.
A just-released survey of business executives shows one in two don’t have access to the information they need to do their job. The survey also showed that eight out of ten make major decisions when information is missing or they’re not sure they can trust the information they have.
IBM says this marks the first launch of a new service line by IBM Global Business Services since it was formed in 2002. The new service also will draw on IBM's Information Management portfolio, including technologies from the recent acquisitions of Cognos and iLog, as well as the expertise of the only research department in private industry dedicated to mathematics and business analytics.
Four thousand consultants will be dedicated to the effort, along with 200 mathematicians and advanced analytics experts.
