Global BSS/OSS provider Intec is the winner of the prestigious ‘Best Billing Solution’ category of the Billing & OSS World 2009 Excellence Awards. The company won for its work with Polish operator Polkomtel.
The awards, presented last night at the Billing & OSS World 2009 Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, recognize the leading vendors, service providers and integrators in the development and deployment of billing and OSS technologies and solutions worldwide.
The implementation of Intec’s Singl.eView platform has provided Polkomtel with fully convergent charging for all its services, using a single charging engine for pre-and post-paid subscribers, thereby delivering significant operational and commercial benefits, according to the company. Since Phase 1 completion, Polkomtel has launched a number of unique new services including, for example, ‘Chill Bill’, whereby subscribers receive a monthly account top-up, to spend on any Polkomtel 36.6 service tariff, in exchange for receiving three, one-and-a-half minute advertisements which they connect to via a freephone IVR number. Polkomtel is the only operator worldwide, to date, to successfully launch a ‘Chill Bill’ style service.
“Intec’s implementation has allowed Polkomtel to realize the true potential of next generation services with audience-focused service launches, a very impressive candidate for the judging panel to consider,” said Ari Banerjee, vice president, Enabling Technologies for Yankee Group. “The deployment is a superb reference site for how convergent billing can deliver distinct competitive edge, as well as increased operational efficiencies.”
“This is a very significant award for Intec, clearly endorsing Singl.eView and its ability to enable much more rapid time-to-market for the launch of new services, while bringing about increased cost-efficiencies and a reduction in the resource required to operate the billing system,” concluded Andrew Taylor, CEO of Intec. “These are key issues for our customers and we are thrilled to receive this award that validates our highly-relevant, cutting-edge technology.”
The Billing & OSS World Excellence Award winners were selected by an independent judging panel that included Banerjee; Dan Geiger, directing analyst, Next Generation OSS & Policy for Infonetics Research; Susan McNeice, global program manager, OSS/BSS Global Competitive Strategies for Stratecast, a division of Frost & Sullivan; Dan O’Shea, editor of Fierce Mobile; Elisabeth Rainge, director, NGN Operations for IDC; plus members of the Billing & OSS World editorial team.
