Open-source software is a security risk, according to European and North American businesses surveyed by Forrester Research.
In a report released this week, the researcher said nearly 60 percent of big companies told them they’re concerned about open source. An even higher percentage of small companies said the same thing.
But it’s not just security that has these businesses anxious. Another 57 percent of the SMBs think open-source software is complicated and won’t be easy to adopt. Only one-third of the larger enterprises agreed. Two-thirds of the SMBs thought support was a problem and nearly half of the big companies agreed.
But maybe it will just take time for them to come around. Forrester says concerns about software as a service (SaaS) are dissipating.
More than 2,000 IT executives were polled.
