Prepaid Hot in Downturn

A new report from comScore shows more and more people are becoming interested in prepaid wireless plans in these tough economic times.

comScore measured interest by monitoring Web site visits and search engine queries in regard to six leading prepaid sites. The combined visitation to these sites grew 37 percent versus one year ago to nearly 8 million visitors, representing more than 4 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience.

Growth in the category was driven primarily by MyCricket.com, which was up 107 percent, and by Boostmobile.com, up 105 percent.
