BT Parting Ways With CTO Raises Questions

When Matt Bross and BT announced they were parting ways last week, it raised a lot of questions in the industry about the future of both the company and its former CTO. And there’s been little to quash those questions in recent days.

BT recently has undergone some restructuring, merging the BT Innovate Group and BT design, which develops new services. Yet, in a statement, Bross said that had nothing to do with his exit. He was leaving under the famous “personal reasons” label.

Writing for Telecom TV, Martin Warwick says letting Bross go is a big mistake. Warwick writes, “[BT] needs a CTO to help evangelise and develop a strategy [for the merge] but, in what seems to be a sign of the times and things to come, power is accruing to Al-Noor Ramji, BT's CIO who is to take over many of the functions previously performed by Mr. Bross.”
