What’s being called a “Facebook browser” is being bandied about in the tech world this week. It’s known as RockMelt.
The speculation is that RockMelt will be a more thorough version of Facebook Connect, but allowing users to access the service anywhere, and as MIT’s Technology Review describes, “creating a constant social connection while browsing.” Up to this point, Facebook Connect requires a developer to integrate it for it to be used. The end result could be transitioning the Web into an even more social atmosphere.
RockMelt is being backed by big names like Netscape founder Marc Andreesen and the men behind Firefox.
