Green technology is getting a financial bump as more venture capitalists pour money into startups focusing on energy. Among the highly touted project are companies making lithium-ion batteries and businesses looking to help people control their energy costs.

That being said, analysts don’t think spending in this area will surpass $2.5 billion like it did during last year’s third quarter – but it’s a big improvement. In the second quarter of 2009, it was less than $600 million. 2007 and 2008 were record years for green tech companies who got an influx of cash from those concerned about steep oil prices and global warming. Solar companies may have taken the biggest hit.
