With the recession waning, Google Inc. (GOOG) once again is open to acquisitions, especially any that would be done in lieu of hiring new workers.
That was the word today from Google CEO Eric Schmidt in an interview with Reuters. Schmidt said acquisitions are “turned on again,” with an expected rate of one small deal per month.
"It's clear that the worst is behind us," Schmidt told Reuters Television on Wednesday. "What we see at Google is some level of improvement and what is more important is we see it not just in the United States but outside the United States.”
Google’s most recent purchase – of On2 Technologies – was announced in August.
