The day after rumors swirled that microblogging site Twitter is about to receive a huge new round of funding, the company confirmed the reports.
What CEO Evan Williams did not confirm on Twitter’s blog Friday is the amount of funding. Reports have it the company is set to receive about $100 million, at a $1 billion – yes, billion – valuation. Williams didn’t confirm the valuation numbers either.
Twitter’s latest money infusion will come from Insight Venture Partners, T. Rowe Price, Institutional Venture Partners, Spark Capital and Benchmark Capital.
