Informa Telecoms & Media is opening new offices in Sao Paulo and Johannesburg as part of an ongoing expansion into the world’s fastest-growing telecoms markets. The opening of the new offices means that Informa will have teams of full-time analysts on every continent – Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

“We have invested heavily in providing a global research capability in recent years and the opening of these new offices is a natural evolution of that process,” said Mark Newman, Informa Telecoms & Media’s chief research officer. “With the addition of senior analysts on the ground in these markets we are going to be able to better serve our customers and help them to develop and refine strategies in increasingly complex, competitive and global markets.”

The opening of the Johannesburg office this month to serve the African telecoms market follows an expansion of Informa’s Middle East research capability out of Dubai. With so much of the investment in Africa coming out of the Middle East, Informa says it is well-positioned to track both the strategies of leading operators and developments in different regional markets.

Latin America is another region experiencing phenomenal growth, particularly in the mobile communications sector.

“Informa already produces a number of telecoms conferences in the region and the new Sao Paulo office will enable us to deepen our expertise in the region and expand our market data and analysis capabilities,” said Newman.

In addition to the two new offices, Informa is strengthening its coverage of the Asia Pacific region with the planned expansion of its Singapore office and continued investment in China, the world’s largest mobile market.
