MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Motorola Inc.'s (MOT) network business said on Tuesday it’s added service quality optimization to its professional services portfolio.
Mobile operators now can aggregate end-user data, measure performance against quality indicators and adjust network elements and business processes, all in an effort to boost revenue, Motorola said.
The service “helps operators identify applications that are essential to their customers, monitor perceived customer satisfaction and decide how to best manage the tradeoffs between network investment and subscriber experience," said Eric Pradier, vice president of services for Motorola Networks, in a prepared statement. “As service providers improve experiences for their subscribers, customers can often respond with improved brand loyalty. Strong brands attract new customers."
Service providers with network-sharing agreements can make use of Motorola’s platform, the company said, to make sure resources are used fairly and that customers are getting the quality of service they expect.
Meanwhile, Motorola’s networks division got a big boost. The unit said it has signed a contract with Taiwan’s First International Telecom (FiTEL) to build a WiMAX network in northern Taiwan. This is the second contract between the two companies.
Motorola has deployed WiMAX networks for three of the six operators who have acquired WiMAX licenses in Taiwan.
