Virgin Media Taps Zeus to Support Quad Play

Virgin Media, the competitive cable provider in the United Kingdom, has enlisted the help of Zeus Technology to streamline application delivery for its quad-play services

The software-based application delivery controller will work to provide the four million Virgin Media customers receive consistent and speedy Web and e-mail services, even during spikes in demand. Virgin Media is also using Zeus to migrate users onto a new function-rich email system, due for completion in the second quarter of 2010. The new e-mail system has an easy-to-use interface with more features and storage space than before.

“Virgin Media faced a number of technical challenges that Zeus has helped us overcome,” said Alex Brown, senior product manager for Internet products at Virgin Media. “We wanted to offer customers better e-mail and Web services, but at the same time ensure we can deliver them without impacting service levels or compromising security. Since we are dealing with massive volumes of traffic, reliability and performance is of paramount importance. The Zeus solution has risen to the challenge by accelerating the e-mail migration faultlessly to deliver better online services.”
