Service assurance vendor EXFO has announced the acquisition of NetHawk, the No. 2 worldwide market leader in load testing, simulators and wireless protocol analyzers.
Thanks to the acquisition EXFO will gain more capabilities for LTE protocol analysis and simulation, load testing and service assurance solutions, which complement its own mobile backhaul testing solution — one of the key challenges of operators today.
"EXFO’s global brand reputation and market presence, combined with our deep wireless knowledge and customer relationships, are sure to jointly carry us to new heights as the industry undergoes accelerated 3G deployment and LTE adoption to cope with explosive bandwidth demand largely created by smart phones,” said Hannu Huttunen, NetHawk CEO, in a statement.
Operators will have access to an expanded service assurance offering─NetHawk’s deep protocol and KPI analysis, 1G and 10G wire-speed capture combine with EXFO’s BrixWorx and BrixMobile to provide real-time visibility that helps improve quality of experience (QoE).
Automated wireless backhaul deployment is also now available thanks to the blended portfolio of fiber-optic and Ethernet testing with EXFO’s service assurance solution for advanced wireless backhaul construction, turn-up, burn-in and monitoring to help boost operators’ productivity and quality.
The two also bring together a full range of 3G and 4G/LTE protocol analyzers for field and lab use.
Meanwhile network equipment manufacturers will have access to a far more complete line of solutions, ranging from 3G and 4G/LTE to advanced optical dispersion, spectral and constellation analysis through to portable solutions for field deployment.
