The Belgacom Group, Belgium’s incumbent communications company and the country’s largest mobile service provider, has installed Mobixell Networks' management platform to handle exploding data traffic volume.
Belgacom offers broadband, telephone, mobile and TV services; and, as demand at the wireless segment has soared, so has the need to control how traffic affects the network. For example, operators can use Mobixell to optimize, adapt, filter and virus-check mobile traffic while making the most of infrastructure already in place, Mobixell said. There’s also a feature called Seamless Access that allows carriers to make policy decisions at the service, subscriber, network and device levels. That way, providers can better monetize traffic, said Mobixell.
Operators further can program Mobixell’s software to add services such as social media, video and advertising.
In addition to Belgacom, Mobixell has sold its platform to carriers including Verizon, Vodafone, Bharti, Orange and Telefonica.
Mobixell, headquartered in the United States, was founded in 2000 and has locations in China, India, Israel, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
