Momentum, which offers a private-label digital voice service to cable operators and municipalities throughout the United States, is branching into the hosted OSS and managed services space in order to give customers a one-stop shop for VoIP resellers.

This new solution includes Web-based software to provision, manage and monitor all services related to cable modem deployments, as well as network management services that include a 24/7 help desk and NOC support.

“We know that the most pressing operational and financial challenges to delivering reliable and profitable voice and data products are due to inadequate network visibility and management tools,” said Alan Creighton, president and CEO of Momentum. “Many of our customers have requested that Momentum provide these services on a fair and reliable basis as an extension to our voice service and we are excited about the opportunity to serve them further and eliminate the multi vendor environment.”

Momentum’s new OSS network surveillance and provisioning system is built on an existing operational platform: Momentum partnered with Conway Corp., an independent operator that created its own back-office system more than five years ago.

Momentum added numerous enhancements to that basis and integrated the platform with Momentum’s existing voice delivery system prior to making this offering available to customers. The new system delivers monitoring and provisioning functionality across the entire VoIP and broadband network and is integrated with Momentum’s new “Carrier-to-Momentum-to-MSO-to-End-User” quality monitoring and reporting model – part of Momentum’s quality initiative launched earlier this year.

Functionality includes:

- Integrated ordering portal (order voice and data services at the same time – with the option to provision)
- Cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service solution
- Comprehensive real-time and historical core network and subscriber reporting
- Clean and intuitive user interface
- Redundant clustered network monitoring and provisioning servers
- Platform product designed to be modular

Momentum also is announcing the availability of new managed services built around the company’s OSS platform and NOC located in Birmingham, Ala. These services range from comprehensive Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to NOC monitoring services that offer alarms and alert notification in real time. The infrastructure is fully redundant and able to scale to an unlimited number of devices, Momentum says. All managed services are layered on top of Momentum’s OSS and offer unprecedented flexibility with customer-specific solutions created to help operators remove the complexity and hassle of technology management.  A few highlights include:

- Complete network management from monitoring and alerts to truck rolls
- NOC support/cable operator technical support Help Desk
- Tier 1 help desk/Internet/voice technical support; available round-the-clock
- Tier 2 and NOC support for data and voice
- Automated escalation process tailored to operator’s needs
- Installer support for broadband and voice
- Interface with Momentum OSS
