Mitel Networks Corp. announced Thursday that it supports BlackBerry smartphones as part of the Mitel Mobile service offered to businesses through Mitel NetSolutions and available for sale through its reseller partners.
The BlackBerry smartphones are designed to work with the Mitel Mobile service and connect to and operate Mitel's suite of UC applications, including Mitel Unified Communicator Advanced mobile client. Specifically Mitel offers the BlackBerry Curve 8530 or BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphones, as well as BlackBerry Enterprise Server licenses.
Announced in January, Mitel Mobile offers voice and high-speed data services to corporate customers. With the addition of BlackBerry smartphones on the Mitel Mobile service, companies are able to obtain business-class devices, service and applications -- all from a single provider.
Business subscribers using Mitel Mobile receive the coverage and benefits comparable to major wireless network service providers, uniquely coupled with enterprise-wide bundling of wireline access and UC features, such as corporate contacts information and presence details, call history, and visual voicemail along with dynamic status control while mobile. In addition, the wireless plans are flexible such that wireless minutes can be pooled or shared for all employees across the organization. The Mitel Mobile service supports wireless handsets, smartphones and wireless data cards, as well as the provision for wireless backup of traditional wireline connectivity, providing for increased redundancy and business continuity.
The Mitel Mobile service is generally available in the United States.
