Allot Communications and BroadHop have put together a fully integrated solution for putting subscribers in control of their services.
The companies have completed integration and interoperability testing between Allot’s Service Gateway, which serves as an intelligent policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF), and BroadHop's Quantum Network Suite, which is a fully virtualized Policy Management application that performs the policy and charging rules function (PCRF).
The integrated solution is designed, through its adherence to the latest 3GPP policy standards, to meet the needs of joint customers for tiered services and personalized subscriber data management. The solution also enables service providers to provide enhanced user experiences through better management of bandwidth, VoIP, video and fair use policies.
It also will help enforce sophisticated fair-use policies based on 3GPP Release 9's Usage Monitoring and dynamically adapt to changing subscriber and quality-of-service conditions in mid-session.
Lior Moyal, vice president of business development at Allot, said service providers need to determine who, how and when their systems are being used in order to customize their network and services. And Jim O'Brien, vice president business development of BroadHop, added that Allot and BroadHop are able to help service providers make the necessary shift as their business models change from flat-rate tariff plans toward tiered services and personalized subscriber data management.
