In the time it takes to smoke a cigarette, you can learn a little something about performance management through the first in a series of educational videos from SevOne.

SevOne launched the educational video whiteboard series this week. The videos are hosted by Vess Bakalov, CTO of SevOne, and focus on topics of interest to the network performance management community. They cover the NetFlow collection and using Flexible NetFlow, to efficient high frequency polling.

Part one of this series is called “NetFlow Reporting without Impacting Your Routers.” In this seven minute video, Bakalov explains how to get highly granular flow information for troubleshooting and minute level aggregated flows for trending application behavior, without as the company said, impacting busy core routers.

Bakalov uses a whiteboard to diagram how flows are exported from routers, how one second granular flows are efficiently collected, and when to look at raw flows vs. aggregated flows. The series will run weekly through the end of 2010. You can get it on demand here.

Smoke break or learning break. Your choice.
