Orange Austria, the third-largest mobile operator in Austria, with 2.2 million subscribers, has gone live with Convergys Corp.’s Smart BSS Solutions, meeting a mandated European Union timeline.
The EU recently imposed a regulation making it mandatory for telecommunications providers to have real-time control over the costs incurred by data roamers. The regulation requires that these providers notify each of their subscribers through text messaging when the subscriber has reached a certain threshold of data-roaming charges on his or her monthly bill. To comply with this new “bill-shock avoidance" law, Orange Austria took advantage of Convergys Real-Time Convergent Charging Solution.
Orange Austria signed a license, services, support, and maintenance contract with Convergys and simultaneously upgraded its installation of Convergys Rating and Billing Manager to experience the full benefit of the Real-Time Convergent Charging solution.
