A new content-delivery partnership will help mobile video become more widespread in Europe.
European wireless giant Orange has selected AuthenTec’s new, downloadable digital rights management (DRM) solution to enable secure delivery of movies and TV content to Android phone and tablet users. AuthenTec says its Downloadable DRM Fusion Agent for Android provides security for premium content and monetization opportunities for Orange, which recently rolled out the Orange Cinema Series movie service to its subscribers.
AuthenTec worked closely with Orange to create a secure, downloadable application for Android phones and tablets that gives subscribers fast mobile access to the Orange Cinema Services, including five channels of movies and TV series content. Orange is the key brand of France Telecom.
“We are delighted that AuthenTec has delivered a very secure and easy to integrate DRM client inside our application that gives Android phone and tablet users ready access to our new Orange Cinema Series," said Olivier Dhotel, Director Mobile TV of Orange Group Strategic Marketing. “AuthenTec was a perfect fit for our new premium movie service, providing security that protects premium content and is approved by the major studios, and can be easily downloaded by our subscribers."
AuthenTec’s DRM Fusion Agent supports Microsoft PlayReady, Windows Media DRM, Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and UltraViolet standards. It is available as a downloadable application for Android and Apple phone and tablet users. As an embedded solution, it is available on Android and many other embedded platforms for mobile phone, set-top box and other OEMs. AuthenTec also offers an end-to-end media security solution through its DRM Fusion Server for carriers and network service providers.
