B/OSS Live! Announces 2011 Excellence Award Winners

B/OSS LIVE! After one of the most aggressive campaigns by members of the BSS/OSS community to vie for a B/OSS Live! Excellence Award, the winners were announced Wednesday evening in a ceremony on the floor of the Businessplex in Washington, D.C.

Awards were presented for excellence in implementing solutions that improved service providers businesses in the following categories.

  • Best Cost Management
  • Best Service Enablement
  • Best Customer Experience Improvement
  • Best Business Process Automation
  • Best North American Rural Support
  • B/OSS Innovator of the Year

Sprint won the Best Cost Management Implementation Award for its nationwide paperless invoicing and paper reduction initiative, beating out runner up Intec, now a CSG company, and its large volume mediation deployment at Vivo, one of Brazil’s largest wireless operators.

HP won the prize for Best Service Enablement Implementation for its creative Day Pass for Data solution implemented at Rogers Wireless. HP narrowly edged out runner-up Broadvox in one of the more hotly contested categories.

The Best Customer Experience was provided by Accanto Systems this year for its Intelligent Customer Service Assurance deployment with Telefonica O2 in Germany. OSG Billing was a very close runner up for improving the processes and visibility of TelePacific’s billing systems and easing the merger pain of its Mpower Communications acquisition.

The Best Example of Business Process Improvement was given by NetFormx for its work at AT&T’s Unified Communications Center of Excellence in automating its requirements-to-order processes. CommSoft’s seasonal service fulfillment for a Mid-Atlantic provider was runner up.

A new category was added this year to acknowledge the efforts of delivering effective and cost-effective solutions for the Tier 3 market in the U.S. The first winner of the Best North American Rural Support Award went to Info Directions for its Pay-in-Advance solution at Nex-Tech Wireless. American Support took home Runner-Up for its reseller model bringing Tier 1 solutions such as CSG, Sigma Systems, LiveOps and others to Tier 3 operators.

B/OSS’ Innovator of the Year Award went to Globys for its Mobile Occasions Contextual Marketing Solutions, which was pushed for the top prize by Runner-Up Comverse and its policy solution built for solving the Mobile Broadband predicament.
