The Federal Communications Commission is seeking nominations for membership in a committee that will assist the agency in tracking and evaluating rules that are designed to preserve the openness of the Internet.
The Open Internet Advisory Committee will be comprised of a variety of interests, ranging from consumer advocates and Internet engineering experts to investors and broadband service providers, among others.
Nominations are due to the FCC by 11:59 p.m. ET, Sept. 1, 2011.
The FCC’s Open Internet Order was released in December but is not expected to take effect until at least the fall.
Yesterday, the FCC issued additional guidance in connection with disclosure requirements contained in the order, addressing criticism that had been holding up the effective date of the rules.
