Finland-based Comptel is selling its Axioss software to networking giant Cisco in a deal worth $21.3 million euros (approximately $30.6 million U.S.). Axioss is a fulfillment solution developed by Axiom Systems, a company acquired by Comptel in 2008.
As part of the deal, Cisco is also taking on some personnel related to the Axioss assets, mainly based in the U.K. Gareth Senior, Comptel CTO and member of the executive board, will also be transferring to Cisco.
“This is a great deal for Comptel," said Juhani Hintikka, president and CEO of Comptel. “It underlines our technology leadership in the OSS/BSS domain. This does not change our fulfilment strategy, which is to achieve growth and the market-leader position for convergent telecom service providers."
Comptel plans to continue its fulfillment business developing and selling its Comptel Fulfillment Solution. The next release of the solution, based on a new technology platform, will be released in the first half of 2012. Comptel will also retain its existing Axioss customer relationships and will continue to support those customers, it said.
Look for the deal to close next month. Comptel and Cisco say they will continue their cooperation across other areas of OSS/BSS, like cloud mediation and charging.
