4G WORLD — St. Paul, Minn.-based LocaLoop has made available what it calls the broadband industry’s first turnkey 4G solution specifically designed to deliver affordable mobile and fixed broadband Internet to rural areas.

LocaLoop, working with Israel-based Runcom Technologies, developed the solution based on its cloud technology platform, LocaLoopNet, and Runcom’s 4G hardware products. Runcom’s hardware is specifically adapted to low-density markets and fine-tuned to work seamlessly with LocaLoop’s virtualized SaaS platform, the companies said.

While delivering mobile broadband Internet to rural areas has long been considered expensive to implement, LocaLoop says its cloud-based platform leapfrogs the legacy on-premises OSS/BSS systems incumbent wireless carriers typically use today for a fraction of the cost and eliminates the need for a local NOC.

“Six months ago LocaLoop and Runcom came together to create a profitable turn-key 4G solution for rural service providers," said Carl-Johan Torarp LocaLoop founder and CEO. “Today we are making good on that promise."

The pair plan to formally introduce the solution at 4G World in Chicago next week.
