A Tier-1 wireless carrier in Russia is implementing Englewood, Colo.-based Evolving Systems’ Dynamic SIM Allocation (DSA) solution.
The unnamed carrier says it picked Evolving’s DSA solution so it could offer personalization of subscriber services and deliver an enhanced and differentiated user experience. At the same time, the carrier will be able to streamline its SIM card distribution processes in a complex market.
DSA will change the way prepaid subscribers are activated. At the point of first use, via the customer’s handset, it will offer a range of personalization options including number selection, call plans, promotions and service upgrades. The carrier, with its predominantly prepaid subscriber base, operates across multiple market regions and time zones. Managing the distribution of SIM cards to support this market is a major logistical task, and making the process more efficient is a key business objective.
Evolving Systems says the DSA solution will enable the carrier to introduce a universal SIM card – one that can be used across the full product range and all of Russia. By avoiding the constraints of pre-provisioning for specific products and with regional numbers, DSA will make significant cost savings, simplify logistics and stock management, and allow the carrier to distribute SIM cards more efficiently in a shorter timeframe, the company said.
“The BRIC economies with their attractive growth rates have been target markets for Evolving Systems for some time," said Thad Dupper, CEO at Evolving Systems. “This significant order, from a major Russian-based carrier, is our largest DSA order in terms of order value and scope. By leveraging the features of DSA we will be able to assist this carrier to increase subscriber loyalty and extend their competitive edge by enhancing the personalization of services they offer their subscribers."
