Madrid-based Almira Labs will begin offering its applications to mobile operators and service providers throughout Latin America. The company made the announcement at IT EXPO in Miami.

“We have conducted a lengthy evaluation of the business opportunities that exist in Latin America, and have concluded that time is right to bring our solutions into that market," said Javier Martin, chief executive officer of Almira Labs. “Like many service providers around the globe, telcos and mobile operators in Latin America are forced to contend with low margins, constant churn, and low customer expectations. Almira Labs’ applications have been embraced in other geographies for their ability to help operators increase revenue, while enhancing customer satisfaction. We have every expectation to achieve similar results in Central and South America."

Almira Labs provides advanced software that enables service providers to deliver advanced features and capabilities to any mobile device, including smartphones, tablets, and feature phones. The company works with several major service providers throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

Almira Labs offers a number of applications to its customers, including “Voice2Social," which allows users to change or update their social media profiles, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, through a voice interface. Almira Labs is in the midst of adding several new channel partners, including large regional VARs, to serve Central and South America.

“Several Latin American countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile, have evolved into highly competitive and sophisticated mobile communications markets," said Ronald Gruia, principal telecom analyst with Frost & Sullivan. “Companies like Almira Labs have a huge opportunity to penetrate this dynamic market by enabling Latin American service providers to innovate, differentiate their offerings and break out of the commodity sales cycle."
