America Movil, the wireless giant, has chosen Alcatel-Lucent to provide infrastructure for its LTE/4G network rollout in Latin America.
The deployment will begin with America Movil’s operator, Claro, which will launch high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks. Claro’s service offering will use Alcatel-Lucent’s LTE solution, including its lightRadio portfolio of products.
“We look forward to sharing this knowledge with America Movil as LTE continues its rollout across Latin America," said Osvaldo Di Campli, president of Alcatel-Lucent activities in Latin America. "We are excited to see all the benefits – economic, social and otherwise – that will result from the delivery of LTE to America Movil’s subscribers."
The Alcatel-Lucent solution deployed by Claro in Puerto Rico also provides a future path to ensure that Claro continues to offer breakthrough, state-of-the-art network connectivity in Puerto Rico, Al-Lu said.
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by more than 20 customers for 4G LTE, including two of the world’s largest service providers for commercial deployments, and is involved in more than 70 trials worldwide.
